Going away for Memorial Day? 

If the answer is yes, and if you happen to have young children, there are some great road trip games to keep your family travel time fun and peacful.  Here are five of the best, courtesy of Montclair Patch.

—Road Trip Scavenger Hunt from www.momsminivan.com. Give each child this printable list of items to watch for while driving. Check off each item when they find it.

—Car Bingo. Print out these bingo cards and use pennies for card markers.

—20 Questions. One player thinks of a famous person, place or thing. Everyone else gets to ask the player 20 questions, which must be answered "yes" or "no." For example, "Does it know how to read?" is a valid question, but "What's its favorite book?" is not. Whoever guesses correctly gets a turn to think up something.

—License Plate Lingo from http://familyfun.go.com. The goal of this game is to come up with a phrase using the letters on another car's plate. So if you see the plate LMT 823, the first person to call out a somewhat logical phrase such as "Love me tender" or "Lost my tooth" earns a point.

—Vehicle Count from www.realsimple.com. Have kids practice their counting skills with goals like “Find 25 green cars.” Older children can guess how many pickup trucks or police cars will pass in 10 minutes. The winner chooses the music.
