Christie Town Hall Meeting Today in Cedar Grove
Doors will open at 10:15 a.m. with seating on a first come, first serve basis. The event will start at 11 a.m.
New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie will visit Cedar Grove on June 19 for a town hall meeting, Cedar Grove officials announced Monday night.
The event will be held in Cedar Grove High School's gymnasium to better accommodate the crowd, said Cedar Grove Mayor John Zunic.
Doors will open at 10:15 a.m. with seating on a first come, first serve basis. The event will start at 11 a.m. and is expected to last about 90 minutes.
“You always like to have the executive leader of the state visit your town,” said Zunic. “Residents will be able to directly ask their questions to the governor. It’s not very often people get that opportunity.”
The last governor to visit the township was Christie Todd Whitman, he said.

Regrettably, I will be out of town on that date. If I were able to go, I would tell Christie to stop attempting to divert public funding into private pockets by pushing profit-making private school, especially online schools which have proven to be a stark failure in many other states. So too many of the charters he and Acting Commissioner Cerf are pushing, which have shown no evidence of better performance than public schools with similar demographics. Public schools are the bedrock of Democracy! Therefore I urge as many people as possible to contact their Steve Sweeney (856-251-9801), Sheila Oliver (973-395-1166), Teresa Ruiz (973-484-1000) and tell them to reject changes to the current school formula for the proposed FY budget, override the illegal changes being proposed by Cerf, particularly those related to virtual charter schools and say NO to the 10% income tax cut, which will only benefit the very wealthy. We simply can't afford it:

Please consider joining Save our Schools NJ to help stand up for public education. Herewith a spreadsheet the organization has created of the continuing dire underfunding projected for our public schools over the next five years. Between the 2% tax cap and the governor's recommended changes to the budget formula, we will all see drastic cuts in school staffing and programming. The other alternative is to increase local taxes. We don't have to fight this attack on public education by ourselves. There is strength and inspiration in numbers. http://www.saveourschoolsnj.org/funding-formula/

and just think they want to put this guy up for VP? I wish I was eligible for food stamps, welfare, free education, free medical benefits and then maybe I would attend but I have to work to pay my taxes for those wjo don't want to. Gov. Christie is only putting up a smoke screen with this make shift town hall meeting. Who can attend besides his supporters, colleagues and donors? The average person can't.
