Shoprite Raises $1.25 million to Feed the Hungry
Employees featured on a special-edition Cheerios box sold exclusively at ShopRite stores
In September, ShopRite associates took part in the supermarket’s Partners In Caring contest to raise money for the hungry in honor of National Hunger Awareness Month. Sponsored by ShopRite and General Mills, this year’s contest raised $1.25 million for food banks.
In addition to fighting hunger in their communities, each of the 41 winning stores are awarded with the selection of two associates to be featured on a special-edition Cheerios box sold exclusively at ShopRites in March. In addition, each store is awarded $500 (or $3,000 for top 5 stores) to donate to a hunger-fighting charity of its choice.
Bloomfield’s Brookdale ShopRite was one of the winning stores. The store selected Sean Quinlan of Bloomfield and Andrew Catala of Bloomfield to be featured on 125,000 special-edition Cheerios boxes for their store’s commitment.
