Bloomfield Schools Supt. Jason Bing Resigning

Board reportedly accepting his resignation at next board meeting.

Bloomfield Schools Superintendent Jason Bing is leaving the school district, according to published reports. 

The Bloomfield School Board is planning to accept his resignation at their next meeting, on May 1, the Independent Press reported today through confirmation by board member Shane Berger. 

Bing did not respond to a request for comment. Board president Mary Shaughnessy and other board members likewise did not respond to requests for comment.

The news evidently comes as a surprise for many in the district. The Bloomfield Education Association's Facebook page links to the Independent Press' story with the comment "This is how we are informed!"

Bing had not been with the district long. He was hired in January of 2011 and signed a five-year contract. The announcement of his resignation followed the resolution of a prolonged school budget crisis that threatened widespread staffing cuts for the district.
