A 24 year-old Bloomfield man was shot and wounded early Sunday morning in Paterson.
At around 4:30 a.m. Paterson police responded to a report of shots fired with a possible victim down between 16th Avenue and Summer Street according to Paterson Police Sergeant Patrick Murray.
When authorities arrived on scene they were unable to locate the victim, according to Murray. Soon after, it was determined that the victim had arrived at St. Joseph's Medical Center in a private vehicle with a gunshot wound to his left leg.
The victim told police that he was with a group of friends on 16th Avenue when they were approached by a dark colored mini-van with two people inside. A verbal argument later ensued between the van's occupants and victim's group of friends. During the confrontation a person from the mini-van produced a firearm and began shooting. The victim was struck in the leg as he attempted to flee the area, according to Murray.
Murray described the investigation as active with police still searching for the suspects involved in the shooting. At this time, the name of the victim is being withheld by police.
