Bloomfield Doctor Found Not Guilty of Sexually Abusing 12 Female Patients

A Bloomfield doctor accused of sexually assaulting multiple female patients was found not guilty by an Essex County Superior Court judge on Friday.
Ray Russomanno, 68, was found not guilty of two counts of second-degree sexual assault, two counts of attempted sexual assault, and 12 counts of criminal sexual misconduct.
However, Russomanno was found guilty of 12 counts of harassment, which could bring a maximum term in prison of 30 days per count.
Twelve women alleged they were attending routine medical visits between 2003 and 2007 when Russomanno touched their breasts, buttocks and other areas in a sexually manner, according to Essex County Prosecutor’s Office spokeswoman Katherine Carter.
The women who alleged the sexual misconduct were from Belleville, Bloomfield, Kearny, East Orange, Jersey City, Lyndhurst and Montclair.
He was tried before Judge Joseph Cassini III with no jury.
Russomanno was also convicted in April 2011 by an Essex County grand jury on four counts of criminal sexual contact with a 27-year-old female patient and faces up to 18 months in jail. At the same time, he was acquitted on two counts of attempted sexual assault and seven other counts of criminal sexual contact.
Russomanno has yet to serve jail time. He will be sentenced for both trials on Jan. 25.
Russomanno has since given up his medical license.

So was he really a doctor, someone that has forgone his Hippocratic oath. To all his patients he was considered certified, by this great state of New Jersey. There are too many loop hole in this system, where people just fall right through the cracks.

so sorry i have gone to him for several years and never had a problem he actually saved my husbands life and i owe him dearly why wasn't i asked and several of his other patients all it takes is one or two to spoil it everybody else

In the meantime........
My hope is that the women involved will seek some sort of direction or counseling. Sexual abuse ranges from verbal to violent whereby ALL has an affect on the individual. Women please do not minimize what was done to you and seek some sort of way to talk it out, work it through with a professional counselor, therapist or spiritaul director. Every assault leaves a tragic mark spiritually as well as emotionally. Every event is a spiritual event because we are physical, emotional and spiritual creatures. Be free.
