21-Year-Old Arrested with Cache of Weapons, Ammo in Car

Jacob Jimenez, of Newark, was arrested last week by Bloomfield police in the area of JFK Drive North and Franklin Street.

A 21-year-old Newark man was arrested Dec. 29 in Bloomfield for impersonating a police officer and carrying an arsenal of guns and bullets — including hollow-point bullets — in his car, according to police.

Jacob Jimenez was pulled over by Bloomfield police on Dec. 29 in the area of JFK Drive North and Franklin Street after a report of suspicious activity. Jimenez, who had a passenger in the car, was involved in a dispute with another vehicle at the time of the stop.

When stopped by police in his 1999 Ford Crown Victoria, Jimenez allegedly held out a gold badge from the driver’s side window and said he worked for the Newark Police Department, according to authorities. Jimenez later said he was a volunteer.

While being questioned, police saw a gun holster on the rear seat of the car and a silver 9-mm black handgun on the floor. A second handgun, a silver .40-caliber Glock, was also found. It was loaded with 10 rounds of ammunition, officials said.

After the gun discovery, Jimenez was arrested.

A further search also found the following items: 12 hollow-point bullets, 40 regular bullets, four pairs of handcuffs, a bulletproof vest, pepper spray and an air-soft handgun.

Jimenez's bail was set at $25,000.

Bloomfield police also reported Jimenez was being investigated by the Newark Police Department for allegedly activating emergency lights and a siren in his car in an attempt to pull over a vehicle.

$25,000. is to low for someone that is portraying a officer the law. He needs to be made a example of and needs a sentence that is fitting for that crime. That is nothing more than a slap on the wrist. I guess he is tight with someone of the inner circle of the judicial system.

it is ashame that individual is known to work for Sterling Securities, im not going to spill all the beans but his bosses are somewhat responsible for that. They run that company like a Mob organization. Driving around in benz's, audi's....it is ashame the state should really investigate the company in how they run it with the employees/payroll and back room deals they do.....perhaps thats how he got a slap on the wrist

Apparently, Jacob Jimenez has some mental issues and should be required by the court that he is mentally evaulated. Scarey, that he had so many weapons, ammunition, four pairs of handcuffs, a bulletproof vest, pepper spray and an air-soft handgun. He could possibily have a relative or may know someone in the police department.
No telling when he pulled over the veichle if he was planning to shoot the passengers, just for the fun of it. This is one crazy messed up society we live in, when you can't even trust the police department to make the proper arrests or the judicial system to punish accordinly.

What are you talking about? You can't trust the Police? They did an outstanding job. And no one knows the case, $25000 is a lot of money and if raised does not let him off the hook, he still has to go to court.

Hollow points are legal in N.J. and are NOT considered "Cop Killers".... he in fact was arrested and will be prosecuted... The Police did a great job and will continue to do so....

I heard that the newspaper that published the names of the residents of Putnam and Rockland Counties that held firearms permits hired armed guards to protect the newspaper. That's ironic.

Hoolow Points are safer than regular bullets, because regular bullets will go straight through one person and into another. Hollowpoints stop inside of the first person it hits. Hollow points are safer to use in crowded places where you wouldnt want an innocent to be possibly hit by a bullet that went through the suspect. They are not cop killers, and I advise you to do some research. When you buy a gun, the first ammunition the gun places try to sell you are hollowpoints.

hollow points are not "cop killers" and the also do ont stop in the first victim that they hit. They make horrible exit wounds and are designed to do maximum damage when entering and exiting a target. They can go through two people at the proper range and are dangerous in crowded places as most weapons are.

Its so funny how people just go and post coments about an issue without knowing all the facts. About jimenes, there is no doubt about his mental problems but about Sterling Securities, I think that if they were running it the way they say, the State Police would've shut them down already.
